Privacy Policy
Private by default. Local by design. TripMeter keeps your trips, vehicles, and expenses on your device unless you choose to export a backup yourself.
Information we collect
TripMeter is built around local-first storage. Depending on how you use the app, the following may be stored on your device:
- Trips, day logs, odometer readings, and sub-destinations
- Fuel fills, expenses, categories, subcategories, icons, and colours
- Vehicles, photos you add, service records, maintenance, insurance, PUC, fines, and notes
- Multi-currency account settings, theme, distance unit, and notification preferences
- Encrypted backup files you export or import through the system share sheet
TripMeter does not require an email address, username, password, or cloud account for core features.
TripMeter does not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
How we use information
Stored information is used only to operate features you expect, including:
- Showing trips, vehicles, analytics, budgets, and bag checklists
- Calculating mileage, spend totals, and chart data
- Scheduling local notifications for trips, services, and expiries when you allow notifications
- Creating and restoring encrypted backup files when you choose to
- Managing optional subscriptions through your platform store account
TripMeter is not designed to build advertising profiles from your driving or spending activity.
Firebase & RevenueCat (subscriptions only)
If you use optional paid features, TripMeter may connect to Firebase solely to integrate with RevenueCat for purchase validation and entitlement management.
- We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or other behavioural tracking SDKs in TripMeter.
- We do not use Firebase for ads, remarketing, or third-party marketing pixels.
- RevenueCat and Apple/Google process payment and subscription data under their own privacy policies when you subscribe.
Notifications
If you allow notification access, TripMeter can schedule local reminders on your device for upcoming trips, scheduled services, and insurance or PUC expiry dates you configure.
You can turn reminders off in the app or revoke notification permission in system settings at any time.
Backups and imports
Backups happen only when you export or restore them. Exported .tripmeter files may contain your full trip and vehicle data. If you share a backup, its privacy depends on where and how you share it.
On supported platforms you may optionally sign in with Google to save backups to a TripMeter folder in your own Google Drive. TripMeter does not create a separate TripMeter cloud account. See Account & data deletion for how to remove Drive backups and disconnect Google Sign-In.
Feedback & support
If you open our public feedback board at tripmeter.featurebase.app, that third-party service may collect information you submit there under its own policy.
Platform providers
Apple and Google may process store, device, crash, or payment information under their own privacy policies when you download TripMeter or subscribe through their stores.
